Zines & Community is a class I developed for Fall 2023. Students are working to use their talent as artists, designers, writers, and creative thinkers to make publications that help elevate and connect with their community here in Jacksonville.
Proceeds from these sales will fund their upcoming group projects for the end of the semester as they work with a diverse group of partners in our campus community including our campus food pantry, our LGBTQ center, and our veterans resource center.
"The Book Of Questions" was created by the Zines & Community Students with Eddie Villanueva. He asked the students what makes a good question- and we started writing down the questions we've been asking ourselves- big or small. Then each student picked a question from the group and make a drawing. 16 questions are asked- but we wonder how many more might come from the reader.
"The Zines & Community Group Work Guiding Principles" is a poster made by the class as we asked ourselves: what is the problem with group work- and how might we do it better?
