Anaisthesis

Where do we go when we lose our senses?

If you've ever had anesthesia you know it isn't quite the same thing as falling asleep. The word anesthetic has no direct Latin orrelation- it is derived from the Greek word "anaisthesis" meaning "without sensation or feeling". It is related to the words from which we derived the word "aesthetic"- today we use this word when we talk about art and beauty- but in ancient Greek it is closer to words that talk about "sensory perception".

I guess I liked that idea- that the opposite of art or beauty isn't uglines or bad taste- but a loss of perception, a disconnection between ourselves and our senses.

It got me wondering: what would it be like to be in that limbo, navigating a world where you slowly lost your senses? Bit by bit caught off from either the good stuff or the bad stuff. Where do we go when we lose our senses? When we aren't sleeping and we aren't awake.

8"x5"- 20 pages- riso printed in federal blue and orange.
